Capricorn District Municipality celebrated the #16DaysOfActivism of no violence against women and children, at Phatlaphadima Special School, Mohlonong village, Ga-Mashashane in Polokwane Municipality on 28 November 2019.
The focus for 2019 has been on children with disabilities, as they at some point, become victims and survivors of abuse. The aim has been to promote the prevention of violence against children with disabilities, in particular those with special needs.
Speaking during the event, MMC CllrJara Masubelele called on the community to capacitate and empower victims of violence and abuse. He also urged the community to come out and report abuse cases. Cllr Masubelele also called on women to stand up for themselves and children.
The Principal of the school Ronnie Mohlabi thanked the municipality for this initiative. #16DaysOfActivism
