CDM awards cleanest school

Capricorn District Municipality’s cleanest school competition has been finalised with Maroba Secondary School scooping the 1st prize under the secondary category and Hlagatse Primary School taking the 1st prize under the primary category. The schools scooped the awards during Cleanest School Competition celebration which was held on 15 March 2019 at Bedfordview Primary School in Lebowakgomo Zone A, Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality.

The competition which was run in line with the 2018 World Environmental Health Day (WEHD) started in August 2018. The competition focused on school environment, greening, waste, sanitation and environmental projects.

Fourty (40) schools from around the Lepelle-Nkumpi area took part in the competition. The project was aimed at enhancing the school environment within the district. The theme for the competition was in line with the WEHD 2018 theme which was “Global Food Safety and Sustainability”.

The results of the competition are as follows; under the primary category, Hlagatse Primary Schhol got number 1 and their prize was an amount of R12 000, Mahlasedi Primary School got 2nd prize which is R8 500, and Ramakgotho Primary School got position 3 and received an amount of R6 500.

Under the secondary category; Maroba Secondary School got R12 000 under the 1st position, SJ Van der Merwe got position 2 with a prize of R8 500, and Moremotse Secondary School which scooped a 3rd prize of R6 500.

All schools which participated received a certificate of participation and a tree.
