Capricorn District Municipality continues to be a revered point of benchmark in financial management after it received an award for 100% spending of Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG) at SALGA Municipal Awards on Thursday, 04 August 2022.The award recognizes CDM’s excellence in having ensured that no money was returned to National Treasury as a result of under-spending the MIG. Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo welcomed the recognition and acknowledged CDM’s consistency in doing exceptionally well in respect of financial management and project management.
MIG is a municipal infrastructure funding arrangement that can only be used to build or upgrade infrastructure for basic services such as water, sanitation etc. If unspent or underspent, it has to be returned to the National Treasury for allocation or re-allocation to other municipalities with better spending patterns; and the grant
amount in following years can be decreased.
