Africa Day is an annual commemoration of the foundation of African unity, and it was commemorated on 25 May. Its origins lie in the collective African resistance to colonialism and economic exploitation. This year’s theme is “Educate an African fit for 21st century: Building a resilient education system for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, equality and relevant learning in Africa “.
The objectives for the commemoration were to understand the different African traditions in the district and some background about chieftaincy, fighting poverty through farming, teach the elderly about climate factors and agriculture.
The celebration was attended by different Stakeholders such as Department of Social Development, Department of Health, and South African Security Agency (SASA).
