PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONY FOR DISASTER SCHOOL COMPETITION

Capricorn District Municipality held a Prize giving Ceremony at Meropa Casino just outside Polokwane to reward learners who participated in the Disaster School Debate Competition last week Thursday, 16 May 2024. The handover ceremony was held on 21 May 2024.
“The purpose of this gathering is honour and reward schools for the excellence they have shown in debating about the impact of a disaster on our quality of life and how we can empower each other to mitigate the risk. It is for that reason we use this competition to test the knowledge of our learners about safety and other precautions. We appreciate all the schools that are taking part in the project. This can only mean that you are committed to our vision and mandate of ensuring safer, disaster-proof schools. Congratulations to all of you for taking a keen interest in this competition,” said Cllr Matome Masoga, Member of the Mayoral Committee responsible for Development Planning and Environmental Management Services.
The event was also attended by officials within the Disaster Management fraternity from Coghsta, South Africa Weather Services, Department of Education, Santam, CDM Speaker, Sibanye Stillwater, South African Redcross Society and CDM.
