On 30 June 2026, Capricorn District Municipality’s Communications Manager, Mr Jabu Masondo, represented Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo during a live community radio engagement o approved revenue-related Council Resolutions.
During the interview, Mr Masondo unpacked the Municipality’s approved revenue-related Council resolutions, which came into effect on 1 July 2026. He explained key initiatives aimed at strengthening service delivery and ensuring the long-term sustainability of municipal services, including:
- The introduction of monthly basic charges on prepaid water accounts
- The Debt Relief Incentive Programme.
- The Indigent Support Programme.
- The extension of municipal billing to communities receiving water services.
- The importance of responsible water use and protecting municipal infrastructure.
Mr Masondo emphasised that these measures are designed to improve the financial sustainability of the Municipality, maintain and expand critical water infrastructure, and ensure residents continue to receive reliable water and sanitation services.
He also encouraged residents to take advantage of the Debt Relief Incentive Programme, register for the Indigent Support Programme if they qualify, pay for municipal services where applicable, use water responsibly, and partner with the Municipality in protecting public infrastructure from vandalism and illegal connections.
The live interview was broadcast on Blouberg FM, Botlokwa FM, Energy FM, Mphahlele FM, and Mohodi FM, reaching thousands of listeners across the Capricorn District and reinforcing the Municipality’s commitment to transparent communication and community engagement.
