Blouberg Local Municipality has been recognized for its sterling work in Special Programmes. The municipality received a certificate of appreciation from Capricorn District Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr John Mpe for consistently implementing the roles and responsibilities of the Aids Councils from 2012 to 2017.
This happened during the launch of the Capricorn District Aids Councils that took place on 08 August 2017 at Jack Botes Hall in Polokwane. Blouberg Municipality has proved itself to be in lead comparing to other Municipalities in Capricorn District in relation to Special Focus Programmes which include issues of Young People, Disability, HIV /AIDS and Children.
The municipality received a trophy and certificate which were an indication that hard work really pays off and community programmes within the institution are given the attention it deserves. The handing over of the award to Blouberg has challenged other local municipalities to put more effort in the special focus programmes and also see Blouberg as an exemplary for beach marking on best practices.
The Mayor of Blouberg Cllr Maseka Pheedi was jubilant to receive the award, sharing the sentiment with him were Chairperson of Special Focus, Cllr Makgalemela Makhura, Kgoshi Ngwako Maleboho. This was due to hard working Special Focus team lead by Shirley Charlotte Nkoana.
