The Executive Mayor of Capricorn District, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo, together with MEC for Limpopo Department Of Agriculture & Rural Development, Ms Nakedi Kekana, visited Herry Oppenheimer Agricultural School in Ga-Matlala, joined by members of the Executive Portfolio Committee on Agriculture on 15 January 2026.Executive Mayor Teffo applauded the Capricorn North District for securing 2nd place in the province and commended the leadership of District Director Mr Mothemane, the Circuit Manager, school principal, educators, parents, teachers’ unions and learners for the overall improved results for the Class of 2025.
MEC Kekana celebrated the school’s improved 2025 matric pass rate of 85.8%, up from 78.3% in 2024, and highlighted stellar performance in agricultural subjects: Agricultural Management Practices – 100% and Agricultural Sciences – 97.2%. She encouraged the school to expand agricultural programs and explore commercialisation of produce.
The school also received trees, seeds, and an animal handling facility, with ongoing technical support from the Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment—strengthening hands-on learning for students.
The leadership planted a tree, as part of a contribution to combating climate change.
