Agriculture Information sharing session a learning curve

The Agricultural Information session continues to be a learning curve through sharing of information between up market farmers and small scale farmers in the Capricorn District Municipality as indicated during a session held on 20 February 2020 at Senwabarwana in the Bloberg Local Municipality.

“We call on all of you to use this session to your advantage, this is a platform for you to create a network that will help you to reach the market and financial institutions and gain more knowledge on running your farming businesses,” said Eva Mojapelo from the Department of Agriculture. Mojapelo was speaking at an Agricultural information session attended by farmers.

The information sharing session held was a partnership between Capricorn District Municipality, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Blouberg Municipality. The session was the 3rd to be hosted in the area since the programme started during the 2017/18 financial year.

Through these interactions De Beers through Venetia mine has been willing to assist the farmers with challenges such as transportation of products to the market, and establish a packaging facility for processing and packaging processes. It was also indicated that there was a great need for tomato paste because the country was currently importing it from China.
