Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) hosted the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) on 08 September 2026 as part of the Blue Drop Assessment process aimed at evaluating the Municipality’s drinking water quality management systems.
The assessment commenced with a desktop analysis of CDM’s water quality management cycle, during which various technical records, systems and processes relating to the management of drinking water quality were reviewed.
The DWS assessment team thereafter conducted a Technical Site Assessment at the Bodutlolo Water Treatment Works to physically assess the Municipality’s water treatment processes and operations.
The assessment audited the entire water supply process, including how raw water was abstracted, treated and ultimately distributed to consumers.
It also provided an opportunity to evaluate whether the Municipality’s water treatment systems, operational procedures, monitoring processes and infrastructure were being effectively managed to ensure the provision of safe drinking water to communities.
CDM continued to cooperate with the Department of Water and Sanitation in strengthening water quality management and improving compliance with applicable drinking water standards.
The official results and findings of the Blue Drop Assessment will be communicated to the Municipality by the Department of Water and Sanitation upon completion of the assessment process.
CDM remains committed to providing communities with safe and reliable drinking water.
