On 05 August 2026, Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo welcomed the official launch of Women’s Month in Limpopo, led by the Acting Premier of Limpopo, Mme Florence Radzilana, in Lebowakgomo under the Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality.
Held under the theme, “Empowered Women Empower Nations,” the launch marked the beginning of a month dedicated to celebrating the achievements, resilience and invaluable contributions of women in building stronger families, communities and a prosperous nation.
The event also provided an opportunity to reflect on the progress made in advancing women’s rights and empowerment, while acknowledging the challenges that continued to affect women and girls. It brought together women and stakeholders from various sectors, including government, business, civil society, traditional leadership and communities.
Executive Mayor Teffo highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for women to participate meaningfully in leadership, education, economic development and community-building initiatives. She emphasised that empowering women contributed to building stronger communities and advancing sustainable development.
The Capricorn District Municipality joined the province and the country in commemorating Women’s Month by reaffirming its commitment to initiatives that promoted women’s empowerment, equality, dignity and meaningful participation in society.
The launch set the tone for a month of reflection, celebration and action, recognising the significant role women played in shaping families, communities and the future of the nation.
