The Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting education by participating in the Capricorn North Matric Enrichment Camp Closing Ceremony, held at Ratanang Special School under the Blouberg Local Municipality on 10 October 2025.
Cllr. Granny Malebana, representing the Executive Mayor Cllr. Mamedupi Teffo, commended the learners for their discipline and dedication throughout the camp. She encouraged them to remain focused on their studies and to make their parents proud, emphasizing that education is a collective responsibility.
“Education is not only the responsibility of the Department of Education but also of government, communities, and learners themselves. All stakeholders must work together for the success of our learners,” said Cllr. Malebana.
The Capricorn North Circuit, in collaboration with CDM, hosted the enrichment camp to motivate and prepare Grade 12 learners for their final examinations. The initiative highlighted the municipality’s ongoing efforts to support education as a cornerstone of development in the district.
The camp produced encouraging results, with 119 Bachelor’s passes, 99 Diplomas, and 22 Certificates. Over 300 learners, identified as academically at risk, participated in the programme. Remarkably, their collective performance improved from 4% in the pre-assessment to 67% in the post-assessment.
