The review and/or development of the Integrated Development Planning is in line with Chapter 5, Section 34 of the Municipal Systems Act, 32 of 2000, that requires that the municipal council must review its integrated development plan annually in accordance with assessment of its performance to the extent that changing circumstances so demand.
- an assessment of the existing level of development in the municipality, which must include an identification of communities which do not have access to basic municipal services;
Further, Section 16 of Municipal Systems Act 32 of 2000 states clearly that a municipality must develop a culture of municipal governance that complements the formal
representative government with a system of participatory governance and must, for this purpose– encourage, and create conditions for the local community to participate
in the affairs of the municipality.
It is within this legislative context that community members are invited to make comments and inputs into the Draft IDP Status Quo/ Analysis Report. The information collected and
collated will enable the municipality to decide on priority issues or identify problem areas, with due consideration of the residents’/communities’
perceptions and of available facts and figures. This process will allow for an informed and evidence based planning and decision making.
