On 29 January 2026, the Mayoral Committee Cllr Matome Masoga joined the MEC for the Limpopo Department of Education, Ms Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya, and the Parliament Portfolio Committee on Basic Education during a visit to Tshehlo Secondary School in Ga-Chuene, under the Mogodumo Circuit, Polokwane Municipality.The Parliament Portfolio Committee on Basic Education, chaired by Honourable Joy Maimela, is conducting a week-long oversight visit in Limpopo Province, which commenced on Monday in the Mopani District Municipality.
The committee visited Tshehlo Secondary School (Ga-Chuene), Kgodisheng Day Care Centre (Ga-Maja),Setotolwane Special School (Mankweng), Flora Park Comprehensive High School, Tom Naudé Technical School, and Laerskool Pietersburg in Polokwane.
During the visit, the committee received a presentation from the school principals outlining the school’s academic performance, social challenges, and planned interventions.
The committee expressed concern over poor school infrastructure and other related challenges affecting teaching and learning. Chairperson, however, commended the school for good matric results despite difficult circumstances.
