On 07 January 2026, the Chairperson of the Finance Portfolio Committee, Cllr Madimetsa Matonzi, led a project monitoring visit in Senwabarwana Town, Blouberg Local Municipality, to assess the implementation of the water smart meters programme.The municipality has successfully installed 2 501 water smart meters, with all residential and business customers now fully connected to the system.
Since the introduction of the smart meters, Senwabarwana residents are receiving a more reliable and adequate water supply.
In addition, the full implementation of the smart meter system has improved the municipality’s revenue collection.
The committee expressed satisfaction with the progress reported and urged responsible officials to respond promptly to any new smart meters requests as they arise.
