The Executive Mayor of Capricorn District Municipality, Cllr. Mamedupi Teffo, had on 22 April 2026 officially handed over the Sefene Eisleben Matseke and Ramatshowe RWS Phase 1 Contract A water project, which was valued at over R14 million, bringing relief to the communities of Eisleben and Gamasekela.
The project commenced in January 2024 and was completed in July 2025. Its scope included the drilling and electrification of boreholes, installation of pipelines, construction of a 150KL steel water tank, provision of Jojo tanks, and the installation of 72 communal standpipes to improve access to clean water in the area.
More than 200 households benefited from improved water supply, while over 30 local community members were employed during the implementation of the project. The initiative significantly strengthened local water infrastructure and improved living conditions in the community.
Prior to the handover, the leadership of Capricorn District Municipality visited the project site to inspect the completed work. The delegation later proceeded to Eisleben Community Hall for an engagement with community members.
Earlier in the day, the Executive Mayor, together with municipal leadership, had also conducted a courtesy visit to the Ramokgopa Traditional Authority before proceeding to the water project handover ceremony in Eisleben.
