THREE IN ONE GOVERNMENT SERVICES AT GA-MAKGATO

The Acting Executive Mayor Cllr. Sammy Selamolela, who is a Member of the Mayoral Committee for Corporate Services, led a three-in-one government services programme at Kromhoek Ga-Makgato Village in Blouberg Local Municipality on 09 November 2022.

The Cllr Selamolela joined by Mayor of Blouberg Cllr Maria Thamaga and other members of the mayoral committee, led three programmes namely the handover of Kromhoek Water Supply project, International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction and Batho Pele event. The water supply project handed over is benefiting over 200 households at Ratau and Botshabelo sections in Kromhoek. An amount of just over R8m and an additional of R7m has been pumped towards the project. The project created about forty jobs.

At the same time the municipality brought together Provincial government departments and State-owned entities to give services to the people in line with Batho Pele meaning putting people first. The various institutions were afforded an opportunity to present services offered at their stalls. Also providing services on site were home affairs, South African Social Services Agency, Department of labour, South African Police Service, correctional services, Blouberg Municipality and CDMs’ Municipal Health, Disaster Management, Fire and Rescue Services and more.

The South African Weather Service was also present, and residents were empowered about ways to prepare for extreme weather patterns and how they can be disaster-resilient.
