SCHOOLS TO BENEFIT FROM CDM-MTN e-LEARNING PARTNERSHIP

Learning and teaching at 50 schools across Capricorn District Municipality received a major boost when the Municipality and MTN launch the e-learning programme on 08 April 2022 at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

The initiative, first in the province, benefited 50 schools from both Capricorn North and South districts with tablets to facilitate virtual learning environment by enabling them to access learning material and interact with their teachers online.

“The Municipality comes a long way in supporting schools in various ways and CDM saw it as inescapable duty to join forces with the MTN Foundation in this mission to ensure that learners are supported through online learning resources, engaging electronic content and for teachers to be skilled in facilitating lessons through interactive digital platforms. We believe our partnership will grow to ensure support to other educational programmes run by the municipality such as the Matric Camp. We need MTN extend a partnership hand, for us to be able to increase our current intake of 300 learners,” said Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo. She continued that the partnership will go a long way in ensuring that schools embrace new ways of learning and the timing is just perfect, “we need to embrace technology.”

“At MTN, we have always believed in the power of education to uplift individuals, families, communities and our country. As a result, education, particularly in the ICT area, has always been at the core of our strategy, receiving the largest allocation of funding,” said Kagiso Moncho, GM MTN Northern Region. The MTN Online School is a free integrated online educational portal developed in partnership with the Department of Basic Education (DBE) and the National Education Collaboration Trust (NECT).
