
Capricorn District Municipality together with the Limpopo Department of Transport and the Department of Education, hosted the Road Safety Participatory Education Techniques (PET) Competition on 31 July 2022 at CDM Council Chamber.
The debate was led by Member of Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Local Economic Development (LED), Cllr Caroline Mamabolo. This was a continuation of the Road Safety Debate held on 23 July 2022. The Grade 9 to 11 learners that took part in the competition were from Dikoloi Secondary School, Tema Secondary School and Matthew Phosa Secondary School, all from Blouberg Local Municipality and Kgakoa Secondary School from Polokwane Local Municipality.
At the debate, learners raised challenges they come across everyday at their schools on issues of road safety and presented tentative measures that can improve road safety sorrounding their areas.
Matthews Phosa Secondary School scooped 1st position in the Road Safety Participatory Educational Techniques Competition. The school will represent Capricorn District at the provincial level of the competition. Tema Secondary School got the 2nd position, Kgakoa Secondary School took 3rd position, while Dikoloi Secondary School got 4th position.
