Capricorn District Municipality’s Occupational Health and Safety unit is in a proccess of conducting elections for new Occupational Health and Safety Committee members. The Lepelle-Nkumpi meeting took place on 05 November 2021 at Lepelle-Nkumpi Water Services.
The elections are conducted throughout the municipality’s offices including fire & disaster, water and sanitation satellite offices. The new committee members will be taking over from the previous committee members whose office term came to an end on 30 Septermber 2021. This committee was elected for a period of three years starting from October 2018.
These members are elected in terms of Section 17,18 and 19 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations 85 of 1993.
Their responsibilities include amongst others; review the effectiveness of health and safety measures, identify potential hazards and potential major incidents at the work place, investigate complaints by any employee relating to that employee’s health or safety at work, etc.
