NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT INSPECTORATE

On 20 November 2025, as part of the National Environmental Management Inspectorate (NEMI) Day celebration, Capricorn District Municipality (CDM), through the Environmental Management Unit, conducted a joint awareness and compliance operation focusing on the transportation of dangerous goods along the R521 (Dendron Road).
The operation involved targeted inspections on trucks transporting hazardous materials such as fuel, chemicals, and gases to ensure adherence to relevant environmental regulations and legislation. The initiative aimed to enhance road safety, prevent potential environmental hazards, and promote responsible handling and movement of dangerous goods within the district.
A multidisciplinary team of stakeholders participated in the activity, including the Provincial Department of Transport and Community Safety, Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET), Polokwane Local Municipality (Fire Services, Disaster Management, Waste Management, Environmental Management, Traffic and Law Enforcement), and Blouberg Local Municipality.
This collaborative effort underscores the district’s commitment to safeguarding communities, protecting the environment, and strengthening intergovernmental relations for improved compliance and safety on public roads.
