MPAC public participation on Draft 2017/18 Annual Report commence

Capricorn District Municipality has commenced with the public participation process for the Draft 2017/18 Annual Report on 01 March 2019 at Bolivia Lodge in Polokwane. The public participation process on the Draft 2017/18 Annual Report is part of the oversight roles played by the Municipal Public Account Committee (MPAC) in the organisation.

The Draft 2017/18 Annual Report was presented on behalf of the Executive Mayor Cllr John Mpe, by Member of the Mayoral Committee for Infrastructure, Cllr Monica Mohale. In terms of the Municipal Finance Management Act, a municipality must make public its annual report, and invite the local community to submit inputs and comments in connection with the annual report.

The annual report provides activities that the municipality has embarked on during the 2017/18 financial year, provide information about the performance of the municipality against its budget, promote accountability to the local community, and account to MPAC.

The purpose of the municipality’s MPAC is to provide oversight over the executive and ensure good governance in the municipality. When the public participation process is completed, the oversight report from MPAC will be tabled before council.
