Executive Mayor Cllr John Mpe was conferred the Degree of Bachelor of Management Leadership by the University of Free State amid songs and dance at a virtual graduation ceremony held outside Polokwane on Tuesday morning.
Attended by family, friends, colleagues, councillors, Mayors, representatives of various government institutions, the ceremony was streamed live from the University. Speaker after speaker gave congratulatory messages and commended the Executive Mayor for seizing the opportunity to empower himself who despite his busy schedule managed to juggle academic commitments and the demands that come with his Office to obtain this degree.
“With such a huge responsibility to run the District municipality and get clean audit, then chair the ANC region, then be family man and yet be a student. You inspire us Executive Mayor”, said Lepelle-Nkumpi Mayor Cllr Merrium Molala. CDM Municipal Manager Ms Nokuthula Karelse said the staff echoes congratulatory remarks and this is not the end of hard work, but to exhale after long run and then implementation begins. “You have done everything expected of the Home of Excellence”, she said.
Council Speaker Cllr Monica Mohale said Council has no doubt that Executive Mayor’s hardwork, discipline and tenacity has inspired not only employees and fellow councillors but also residents of our region who are hungering for education. LEDET MEC Thabo Mokone said Education is a tool that must be used improve a quality of life.
