International Fire Fighters’ week celebrated in Capricorn

Capricorn District Municipality celebrated the International Fire Fighters week from 24 to 26 May 2021 throughout the district. The purpose of this is to commemorate the International Fire Fighters Day for the 2020 – 2021 financial year and to launch the fire season which lasts from May to September of each year.

Due to the cold weather conditions, this period is basicaly the time when people make a lot of fires at home and around the communities. The theme for this year’s event was around “Cooking and Kitchen Fires.”

The team visited some institutions to teach people about the importance of preventing fires and what is it that they should do to prevent fires. The  muncipality visited various institutions in Molemole, Blouberg and Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipalities. On 24 May 2021 the Molemole Fire Station visited Botlokwa Hospital, Lephalala Primary School and Botlokwa Protective Workshop, on 25 May 2021 Blouberg Fire Station visited Phala Secondary School and Helen Franz Hospital whereas Sefako Makgato Fire station went to Ga-Seloane Moshate.

The municipality donated fire blankets and fire estinguishers to the said institutions.
