Capricorn District Municipality hosted an International Firefighter’s Day Conference on 13 May 2022 at Bolivia Lodge in Polokwane. The day is normally observed globally on the 4th of May annually. International Firefighter’s Day is observed to remember the Firefighters who lost their lives while serving communities.
The event observed a moment of silent, candlelighting and Firefighters sighted the Fireman’s Prayer in rememberance of the fallen heroes. The municipality also used the event to launch the Fire Safety Week.
The Executive Mayor of CDM Cllr. Mamedupi Teffo awarded certificates to all the Firefighters in the district, in recognition of their selfless act of concern for communities’ well being and safety, and to also honour their commendable and dedicated service to the people of the district.
The event was graced by Councillors, Traditional Leaders, Firefighters, representatives from government, officials from all the district’s local municipalities including Firefighters and other stakeholders.
