15 September 2026 marked another important step towards improving access to reliable water services for communities in Molemole Local Municipality, as Capricorn District Municipality officially handed over the R7.36 million Springs Water Supply Project at Springs, Botlokwa.
The site handover was led by the Member of the Mayoral Committee responsible for Infrastructure Services, Cllr Maite Mohale, marking the commencement of the Water Services Infrastructure Grant (WSIG) project.
The project is scheduled for implementation over five months, from 15 September 2026 to 15 February 2027, and is expected to create 20 labour opportunities for local community members.
Key works will include the construction of approximately 6.6 km of water pipelines, fencing of three existing boreholes, refurbishment and fencing of a 200-kilolitre elevated steel tank, as well as the installation of 20 standpipes.
The project is aimed at strengthening water infrastructure and improving the reliability and accessibility of water services for residents in the area. It also contributes to local economic participation through temporary employment opportunities during construction.
Through continued investment in water infrastructure, Capricorn District Municipality remains committed to working with communities and local municipalities to strengthen service delivery and improve the quality of life of residents.
