EXECUTIVE MAYOR CONGRATULATES SEKGODISO ON HER HISTORIC OLYMPIC WIN

Winning the 800m gold medal with a world-leading indoor personal best of 1:58.40 is a testament to her dedication and exceptional talent. She has not only made history but also brought immense pride to our District and Limpopo as a whole.

The world watched with awe as she surged ahead with grit and grace, thus showing them what it means to dream big and work tirelessly to achieve those dreams.

Her triumph on the global stage serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes in our community and beyond. It reminds us all of the power of perseverance and the pursuit of excellence. The District celebrates her success and stands behind her as she continues to shine.

We also would like to congratulate Akani Simbine who also won his first individual global medal. Akani Simbine was the first South African athlete to secure a medal at the Championships, winning a bronze in the men’s 60m final on March 21 with a time of 6.54 seconds.

The Executive Mayor also extended her congratulations to Cheswill Johnson and Chris van Niekerk who competed with determination. May these victory’s open many more to come.
