Winning the 800m gold medal with a world-leading indoor personal best of 1:58.40 is a testament to her dedication and exceptional talent. She has not only made history but also brought immense pride to our District and Limpopo as a whole.

We also would like to congratulate Akani Simbine who also won his first individual global medal. Akani Simbine was the first South African athlete to secure a medal at the Championships, winning a bronze in the men’s 60m final on March 21 with a time of 6.54 seconds.
The Executive Mayor also extended her congratulations to Cheswill Johnson and Chris van Niekerk who competed with determination. May these victory’s open many more to come.
