EM visit water projects with challenges

Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo visited water projects in Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality at Lebowakgomo and Morotse that have been experiencing challenges in their implementation.
The visit that took place on 27 October 2021, started at Lebowakgomo with the Groothoek Bulk Water Supply Contract B then proceeded to Morotse at Mphahlele Water Supply project (Bolatjane, Phalakwane, Mogodi, Makurung and Dithabaneng).
The projects faced numerous interruptions from community members with various demands.
“We need to find an amicable way to deal with challenges identified. There is no need to prevent the contractor from continuing with the work while we engage. We all need to see water projects complete and our people getting water,” said Executive Mayor addressing the meetings.
“When the project is stopped, it affects completion date and budget allocation. We loose infrastructure grants that we receive if we don’t complete projects on time and that negatively affect service delivery. The people who suffer most in all these are our people. Where we make mistakes, let us engage and correct,” emphasized Executive Mayor.
