CDM send-off 20 learners to Eskom Expo for Young Scientists in Gauteng

Capricorn District Municipality strongly support the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists. This morning we have send about 20 learners from different schools within our district because we believe that innovation in science is critically important to finding lasting solutions to everyday and future challenges. CDM is therefore pleased that this expo will give learners an opportunity to showcase their independent thinking, research and compete at all levels.

Eskom Expo for Young Scientists is an exposition, or science fair, where students have a chance to show others their projects about their own scientific investigations. At Expo, students discuss their work with judges, teachers and students from other schools, with parents and with other interested people.

At the Acting Executive Mayor, Cllr Seakamela said that it is her honour and privilege to send-off and wish the learners well in their endeavour to go represent CDM at the Fair in Gauteng – which CDM believe is an opportunity for learners to meet their counterparts and like-minded peers and inspire each other to show their full potential in innovation.

“We are pleased to see the rise of black learners from disadvantaged backgrounds and this developmental trends needs to be encouraged. This reaffirms our belief that indeed we are making strides to redress and show faith in black brains” she said.

CDM hope that learners will learn a lot from this endeavour and from their peers and increase their love for science. As Capricorn District Municipality we believe that competitions are ideal vehicles for unearthing youth with talent and potential, and encourage them to do more and better. By participating at expo students will increase their awareness of the wonders of science, add to their knowledge and broaden their scientific horizons.
