LEARNERS of Mountain View Secondary School got the motivation they need from the Capricorn District Municipality ahead of their participation in the national road safety awareness competition.
The school from Mankweng circuit is representing the district and the province at the national competition that is held in Mpumalanga this week. They were invited to a farewell ceremony with Executive Mayor and Municipal Manager Ngoako Molokomme in preparation for the competition. During the ceremony, the team made a presentation about road safety issues that will be presented at the competition.
The road safety programme is rolled out by the department of roads and transport as part of road safety education that involves schools to ensure increased knowledge and awareness about road safety among schools across the district to influence their actions where road safety is concerned.
Speaking on behalf of the Executive Mayor, Chiefwhip Cllr Calvin Masoga, congratulated the learners and wished them well. “Any society that takes education will succeed, bravo my kids, go makes us proud. You are already the winners there because Capricorn District is home of excellence”, he said. Masoga further gave them tips on presentation skills and how best they can impress the judges at the competition.
The team is made up of Sharon Bokaba, Precious Mashapa, Khutjo Nkanyane and David Letsoalo. The school has made it through to the national competition after winning all local and district competitions.
