Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) MMC for Development Planning and Environmental Management Services, Cllr. Makgato Machaba, joined the Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Maropene Ramokgopa, on an Executive Oversight Visit to Mankweng Academic Hospital, outside Polokwane, on 16 October 2026.
The visit focused on assessing frontline service delivery, identifying challenges and evaluating the support provided to survivors of gender-based violence and sexual offences.
The delegation also visited the hospital’s Thuthuzela Care Centre, which provided integrated support to survivors, including medical care, counselling and assistance with the criminal justice process.
During the visit, the Minister indicated that concerns raised would be referred to the relevant stakeholders and government departments for attention. She also noted that some of the issues identified were already being addressed.
The information gathered during the oversight visit was expected to assist government in identifying service delivery gaps, coordinating interventions and strengthening accountability to ensure that communities received appropriate, effective and dignified services.
