On 11 September 2026, Capricorn District Municipality’s Events Management Team participated in a Protocol and Etiquette Training session at the SALGA Boardroom in Polokwane, aimed at strengthening professionalism and enhancing the coordination of official municipal events.
The session was led by Executive Manager for Strategic Executive Management Services (SEMS), Ms Nompumelelo Khumalo, with a presentation by Ms Tebogo Boshomane from the Legislature. Team members actively engaged in discussions, shared practical experiences and explored various protocol scenarios involving dignitaries, officials and guests.
Protocol plays an important role in public institutions as it provides clear guidelines for the proper conduct and management of official engagements. It promotes respect, order, professionalism and consistency when dealing with political office-bearers, government officials, traditional leaders, stakeholders and members of the public. Effective protocol also helps ensure that official events run smoothly, roles and responsibilities are clearly understood, and guests are received and managed appropriately.
For an institution such as Capricorn District Municipality, strong protocol practices contribute to the professional image of the Municipality and support the effective delivery of official programmes. They also help create an environment where all participants are treated with dignity and respect, while ensuring that institutional procedures and standards are observed.
The training forms part of the Municipality’s ongoing capacity-building and professional development efforts, aimed at ensuring that its official programmes and events are well-coordinated, inclusive, professional and protocol-compliant.
