Executive Mayor of Capricorn District Municipality, Cllr John Mpe congratulates Paralympian Kgothatso Montjane, of Seshego for being the first black woman to achieve the rare feat of reaching Wimbledon finals last Saturday.
Her determination to overcome her affliction and remain a world-renowned Paralympian is a source of inspiration for many young, female athletes with disability. She is indeed blazing the trail for the next generation of female athletes. Her historical feat proves that there’s indeed no limit to what one can be capable of. She is an indomitable example of our sporting prowess, epitome of talent and our source of honour. Montjane has made not only herself and her family proud, but the whole of Polokwane, the Capricorn District, Limpopo and the country as a whole.
By riding a crest of wave to the finals, this was a significant milestone for Montjane’s preparation for the Paralympics that will be held in Japan next month. CDM has got no doubt that Montjane will fare brilliantly at the Paralympics and continue to raise the profile of her home Province and of Capricorn District.
