CDM CELEBRATES DISTRICT HERITAGE DAY AT MASHASHANE

The Capricorn District Municipality’s Heritage Day celebrations saw Executive Mayor Cllr. Mamedupi Teffo is offering a heartfelt reminder that heritage is not confined to what people wear or the songs they sing, but is deeply woven into the way communities live and lead.
“Heritage is about protecting our land, preserving our environment and building resilient communities,” The Executive Mayor Cllr. Teffo shared. “It is about creating a society where tradition and progress walk hand in hand, where we remain rooted but never stagnant, proud but never blind to the work that must be done.”
The day’s programme was graced by Member of Parliament Soviet Lekganyane, traditional leaders from across the district, councillors and municipal officials. Together, they reflected on the meaning of heritage, not only as a celebration of culture, but also as a commitment to unity, resilience and the shared responsibility of building a better future. The district heritage day was celebrated on 18 September 2025.
