CDM celebrate heritage day at Ga-Maleboho

A colourful day filled with laughter, dance, ululations, the beat and poems. These were some of the signs that the love for culture and traditions should never be substituted.
Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) celebrated the 2018 district heritage day with the people of Blouberg at Ben Seraki Stadium in Sekiding Sa Mampote on 21 September 2018 in the Blouberg Local Municipality.
Speaking at the ceremony the Executive Mayor of CDM Cllr John Mpe did not hesitate to allude to the importance of instilling culture and tradition among youth people. He said  “our kids need a lot of their parents’ involvement in their lives by finding creative ways of getting them in contact with their culture, telling them those fairy tales, poems & other oral traditions”.
“We must also encourage them to study and read more on African literature, folklore and also visit museums of African archives. Parents should also encourage young people and kids to form or join different cultural groups of their choice so that they can discover talents and develop new cultural performance skills. Not only will they become entertainers, but also avoid social ills such as gangsterism, substance abuse, thuggery and other notorious anti-social behaviour that would put their future and the future of our district at stake”, said Executive Mayor Cllr John Mpe.
The event was graced by the presence of Kgoshi Ngoako Maleboho of Bahananwa and the Blouberg Local Municipality political leadership led by Mayor Solomon Pheedi.
