The marathon commenced at 05:30, with the half-marathon starting simultaneously. The 10 km race began at 06:00, followed by the 5 km fun run at 06:30. Entry fees ranged from R80 for the 5 km fun run to R300 for the marathon.

This marathon serves as a qualifier for both the Comrades Marathon and the Two Oceans Marathon, attracting runners aiming to participate in these prestigious events. Runners from across the country including, neighbouring countries made sure they are part of this exciting event.

The municipality host this event annually, together with other partners such as Polokwane Athletics Club, the organizing body for the marathon.
