The Speaker of Council Cllr Kholofelo Lehong congratulated Cllr Sandra Kekana for being elected Chairperson of the District Multi-Party Women Commission (MPWC).This happened during an induction session convened by Capricorn District Municipality and the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) for the Speaker of Council and the newly elected Chairperson of the Multi-Party Women Commission (MPWC).
The session highlighted the roles and responsibilities of both the MPWC and the District SALGA Women’s Commission (SWC), in line with Section 79 of the Municipal Structures Act.
The oversight of the MPWC remains under the leadership of the District SWC, chaired by Cllr Masekwameng Rehab.
Speaker Lehong welcomed the engagement, urging the District SWC to ensure that all Multi-Party Commissions remain active and effective in fulfilling their mandates. The session took place on 22 September 2025 at the CDM Council Chamber.
