Capricorn District Municipality host crime prevention awareness campaign at Indermark

Capricorn District Municipality together with Blouberg Municipality hosted a crime prevention awareness campaign at Indermark  on 14 December 2016. The purpose of the event was amongst others to get the community involved in crime prevention strategies, to encourage victims of crime to speak out and to enlighten the community about the different kind of crimes committed in the community.

Amongst the speakers was an ex-offender Selaelo Matjutla from Mohodi Ga-Madikana, who was incacerated for robbery, house breaking & theft and rape, at Polokwane Correctional Centre. Matjutla was sentenced to 41years in prison & served 15 years before he was released on parole. He shared his experiences about crime and when he was in prison, with community & the disadvantages of committing crime

Other stakeholders who attended are the gambling board, SAPS, correctional services, love life, community safety forum, community policing forum and others. The event is also attended by CDM’s Acting Executive Mayor Cllr Monice Ntsoane, councillors from Blouberg Municipality, officials from both local municipalities and members of the community.
