On 09 February 2021, the Mayor of Blouberg Municipality Cllr Maseka Pheedi, the Speaker and MMC for Community Services, Special Focus, Corporate Services led the team that visited the family of the flood victim in Rosenkrantz village.
The visit comes after the victim and his friend went to Cooperspak to withdraw money and on their way back, the water level was high at the bridge where they attempted to cross.
“Unfortunately my friend slipped in and couldn’t swim out as the water flow was strong and he didn’t have any grip” the surviver said.
Our Disaster Management unit, South Africa Redcross Society (humanitarian relief) , and the Department of Social Development provided Psycho Social services, food parcels, sanitizers, blankets, water bucket and dishes to the family. The victim will be laid to rest on Saturday.
