Maimela said that the NYDA has identified key focus areas which are meant to place youth empowerment at the centre of government work.

These focus areas are; to provide business grants to emerging youth enterpreneurs, provide vouchers to assist newly registered youth enterprises with branding their pty’s & developing sustainable business plans, Solomon Mahlangu scholarship which covers extras that are not covered by NSFAS funding & to advocate for the establishment of youth skills fund, youth enterpreneurs fund and advocating for 40% representation in all administrative sectors of government boards and management.

Addressing the youth MMC for SEMS Clrr Jara Masubelele urged young people to be proactive, stand-up and take initiative. “You have to come up with youth programmes and approach the municipality for support” said Masubelele. He also promised to come back to the youth in Lepelle-Nkumpi to give them feedback on the issues raised.
