These powerful words set the tone at the UNISA North Eastern Region Women’s Month Celebration, held on 24 August 2026 under the theme “Celebrating Women: Rights, Justice, Action for All Women and Girls.”
The hybrid celebration brought together women from the Limpopo and Mpumalanga cohorts, as well as participants from the UNISA Head Office in Pretoria, for meaningful conversations on women’s empowerment, rights and justice.
The Executive Mayor of Capricorn District Municipality, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo, delivered an engaging session on “Empowered Women”, emphasising the importance of creating opportunities that enable women to participate fully and equally in society.
The programme also addressed critical issues affecting women, including mental health, gender-based violence and femicide, followed by an open discussion and question-and-answer session.
The celebration provided a valuable platform to recognise the achievements and contributions of women while encouraging collective action towards addressing historical injustices and building a society where all women and girls are empowered to reach their full potential.
