On 18 August 2026, Capricorn District Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo called on women to continue taking their rightful place in leadership, business and community development, while creating opportunities for the next generation.
Delivering the keynote address at the 2026 District Women’s Dialogue, Mayor Teffo recognised the valuable contribution of women in government, politics, business, civil society and communities.
She urged women leaders to remain committed to serving their communities and to use their positions to open doors, mentor others and create opportunities for fellow women, particularly those in rural communities.
The Executive Mayor highlighted the importance of social investment in empowering rural women, strengthening women-owned businesses through mentorship and networking, and intensifying the collective fight against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF).
“Let us continue lifting one another as we rise. Let us continue opening doors for other women,” said Mayor Teffo.
She emphasised that women must lead with integrity, courage and purpose, ensuring that the next generation inherits stronger institutions, safer communities and greater opportunities.
