WATER IS LIFE: PREMIER DR PHOPHI RAMATHUBA OFFICIALLY HANDS OVER GA-PHASHA WATER SUPPLY PROJECT

Hosted by the Executive Mayor of Capricorn District Municipality, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo, and attended by the MEC for Limpopo Coghsta Official Basikopo Makamu, the event celebrated government’s commitment to ensuring that every community has access to clean and safe drinking water.

Addressing the gathering, Premier Ramathuba congratulated Executive Mayor Teffo and Capricorn District Municipality for the successful completion of the project, applauding the municipality’s continued efforts to improve the lives of residents through reliable water infrastructure.

The Phase 1 project, valued at R41.49 million, includes five equipped boreholes, a 55m³/hour water purification plant, storage facilities, pumping infrastructure and elevated water tanks.

The project has already improved access to potable water for 965 households in Ga-Phasha, while Phase 2 will focus on village-wide reticulation and yard connections. The project also created 42 employment opportunities, equally benefiting women and men, while investing R2.4 million in local SMMEs.

The successful completion of this project reflects government’s unwavering commitment to delivering quality basic services and improving the dignity and well-being of communities across Capricorn District.
