CDM Supported Mamedupi Teffo Legacy Foundation Education Initiative

The Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) joined the official launch of the Mamedupi Teffo Legacy Foundation Inter-School Spelling Bee and Reading Competition, which was held on 23 April 2026 at Audi Polokwane. The municipality was represented by the Chairperson of Sport, Arts and Culture, Cllr Makgato Machaba.

Led by CDM Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo, the foundation continued to champion education as a key driver for unlocking opportunities and transforming lives. The initiative was supported by the Department of Education and aligned with the “Learning for Meaning” programme, which promoted literacy, critical thinking, and a strong culture of reading among learners.

Rooted in the foundation’s pillar of Education Access and Support, the programme sought to empower young people and advance academic excellence through structured educational activities and competition.

The launch brought together key stakeholders in education, including schools and learners, in a shared effort to strengthen literacy development. It was also graced by Mmakgoshi Mmanare Moloto, who emphasized the importance of education-focused initiatives in shaping future leaders.

More than just a competition, the programme was positioned as a platform that built confidence, inspired creativity, and cultivated a culture of reading aimed at long-term academic and personal development.
