“SANITATION IS DIGNITY: R34m Project Uplifts Madikeleng”

The Member of the Mayoral Committee responsible for Infrastructure Cllr Maite Mohale joined the Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, Isaac Seitlholo launched a R34-million sanitation project at Madikeleng Community Hall at Ga-Mathabatha on 17 November 2025.
The initiative benefited over 2,000 households and was delivered over three years, starting in the 2021/2022 financial year. The project affirms a simple message: sanitation brings dignity and lasting change to the community.
One of the beneficiaries, 101-year-old Koko Willemina Rapulana, couldn’t hide her excitement, and she made sure the Deputy Minister didn’t leave empty-handed. After receiving her new toilet, she politely demanded sweets from him, proving that at 101, you can still negotiate like a pro. The delegation could only laugh as Koko reminded them that dignity is important, but a little sugar never hurts.
