PUBLIC NOTICE

Publication of Drinking Water Quality Results for Quarter 1 (July – September 2025)

Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) hereby informs the public that the Quarter 1 Drinking Water Quality Results for the period July to September 2025 have been finalised and are now available for public access. This publication is part of CDM’s commitment to transparency, accountability and compliance with the Blue Drop System (BDS) requirements following the 2023 assessment, where the Municipality was advised to publish its water quality results quarterly.

Overview of Water Supply Systems Assessed

The results cover nine (9) Water Supply Systems (WSS) and seven (7) Water Treatment Works (WTWs) registered with the Department of Water and Sanitation. These include:

  • Alldays WSS
  • Bodutlolo WSS
  • Botlokwa Regional WSS
  • Lebowakgomo WSS
  • Mogwadi WSS
  • Olifantspoort WSS
  • Senwabarwana WSS
  • Tooseng WSS
  • Zebediela WSS

Key Findings

  • Moderate performance was recorded in Alldays, Lebowakgomo, Olifantspoort and Zebediela WSS, mainly due to microbiological failures.
  • Bodutlolo WSS showed fair compliance, with hardness being the only parameter outside SANS 241 standards.
  • Botlokwa, Mogwadi, Tooseng and Senwabarwana WSS showed poor compliance, with several determinants not meeting the SANS 241 Drinking Water Standards.
  • The poor performance in some systems is largely due to high water demand, insufficient treatment capacity, and challenges with blending borehole sources.
  • Refurbishment of Tooseng Package Plant was completed in September 2025, and improvements are expected going forward. Refurbishment of Polata Package Plant is currently underway.

A budget allocation of R6.05 million has been made available for operations and improvements of package plants for the 2025/2026 financial year.
