DISTRICT DISASTER SCHOOL COMPETITION AWARDS CEREMONY HELD AT NIRVANA

On 04 June 2025, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Community Services, Councillor Elizabeth Rahlana, presided over the District Disaster School Competition Award Giving Ceremony at Nirvana Hall in Polokwane. The event brought together nine schools from across the district, all competing for top honours in disaster preparedness and response.
The competition aimed at promoting awareness, education, and proactive thinking among learners in managing emergencies and disasters within their communities, saw schools walking away with cash prizes and more, including for both the educators and learners.
The valuable prizes, including cash awards, tablets, and branded goodie bags, were awarded in recognition of their dedication and performance. The initiative not only encourages academic excellence but also strengthens community resilience through informed and empowered youth.
The winners were as follows:
Primary Schools category

Molapo Matebele Primary School – Winner R20 000

Mampote Primary School – 1st Runner R15 000

Mamotshana Primary School – 2nd Runner R10 000

Kaputla Nkoana Primary School –3rd Runner R5 000

Secondary Schools category

Segoptje Secondary school – Winner R20 000

Karabi Secondary School – 1st Runner R15 000

Machaka Robert Mamabolo Secondary school – 2nd Runner R10 000
