Capricorn District Municipality (CDM), in collaboration with the Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA), officially launched the District Ethics, Rules, and Integrity Forum at the CDM Council Chamber in Polokwane in 03 June 2025. The initiative aims to strengthen accountability, ethical leadership, and good governance across the district.The forum will serve as a structured platform to address misconduct and promote ethical behaviour and integrity. The session was led by the Chairperson of the Ethics Committee, Cllr Jara Masubelele. CoGHSTA presented the Code of Ethical Leadership and the draft of the Terms of Reference to guide the forum’s operations.
District Council Speaker, Cllr Kholofelo Lehong, emphasized the important role of council speakers in supporting ethical conduct. “The findings of investigations, along with recommendations, are reported to the council upon conclusion,” she said. Sarah Mage from the Provincial Ethics and Integrity Forum endorsed the launch, expressing strong provincial support.
The event brought together Speakers from local municipalities, Chief Whips, ethics committee members, and coordinators. The launch stands as a call to action for all stakeholders—ethics and accountability are shared responsibilities essential to building a district we can all be proud of.
