The Capricorn District Municipality bid farewell to Chief of Fire Wynand Els and Ops Manager for Emergency Services Mr Thabang Letanta, who have been with the municipality since 2005 and 2007 respectively.Cllr. Elizabeth Rahlana, Member of the Mayoral Committee responsible for Community Services, expressed her gratitude for their contributions and positive impact on the municipality. The pair were among the longest serving officials in Emergency Services and were recognized for their role in making Capricorn Fire and Disaster Management one of the best in the province.
At their farewell, they shared how everyone in the municipality contributed to their growth and expressed hope that others have learned valuable lessons from their time in CDM.
“We learned a lot from their resilience and determination,” said Ms Netshidzati from Limpopo Provincial Disaster Management Center.
The emotional event was attended by officials from the three fire stations in Molemole, Blouberg, and Sefako Makgato, as well as Polokwane. As they move on to new chapters outside of the municipality, they leave behind a legacy that will be remembered and cherished by their colleagues and community. The farewell took place on 20 December 2024 at Molemole Fire Station in Botlokwa under Molemole Local Municpality.
