MPAC visit WSIA project at Pax

Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) visited Pax Village to do an oversight inspection on the Pax Intrantisbus WSIG Project. The visit took place on 19 February 2020 at Pax Village under Blouberg Local Municipality. The committee led by Chairperson Cllr Paulina Makgato wanted to see progress on the project which they had previously visited and the community representative raised concerns on limited water supply in the area.
The project started in December 2019 and was completed within a period of 12 month after it was extended from 8 months due to lockdown. The community is currently receiving water from boreholes in the area. The project scope included securing a water source by equipping and electrification of two new boreholes and water supply and reticulation.
Only one borehole is operational as the other one is awaiting Eskom for energizing. “As the community of Pax, we are very happy because we now have water in our area”, said Ward Committee Esther Huma. MPAC was joined by Cllr Sekgoloane, Ward Councilor and Chairperson of MPAC at Blouberg Municipality.
